5v5+5 Transition Game

Simple transitional possession activity that focuses on the transition from attack to defense & from defense to attack.

Description:
Two teams attempt to keep possession for as long as they can while one teams attempts to win the ball back. If the defending team win the ball back, they now become a possession team and the team that gave away possession are now the defending team. For example, Yellow start as the defending team, so Red & Blue work together to keep possession against Yellow. If Blue lose possession, Red & Yellow now work together to keep possession.

Set-up:
Set up a grid with sides 40 x 50 yards.
Players will be divided into 3 equal teams (4v4v4 - 6v6v6).

Players work for a total of 6 Rounds - 2 minute each rep.
If the ball goes out of play, the coach plays a new ball in.

Progressions:
Add touch limit to players - 2 Touch, 1 Touch etc.
Add small goals on the outside of grid. Blue team can score in them when they win possession when it transitions to 5v3.

Activity focuses on possession and pressing, so coaching points can differ based on your session focus.
