3v1 Rondo

Simple Rondo exercise where red players attempt to keep possession. Activity can be used as part of an extended warm-up or full session part.

Description:
Red players attempt to keep possession. Blue player attempts to win the ball.

Set-up:
Set up a Triangle grid with each side 7-10 yards in length.
Red players start as shown above. One player on each side of the triangle
Blue player starts in the center of the triangle. 

Players work for a total of 4 Rounds - 1 minute each rep. Rotate the inside Blue player every rep.
If the Blue player wins the ball, they give the ball back to Red and players restart.

Progressions:
Add touch limit to Red players - 2 Touch, 1 Touch etc.
Decrease length of sides of the grid.

Add Competition:
Reds get a point for 7-10 passes. Blue gets a point for winning the ball.

Coaching Points:
Emphasize the fact that we move the ball to move the opposition.
Can you suck the Blue player to one side of the grid and then move the ball quickly to a free player?

Weight of Pass - Are you playing pass to your teammate that they could pass first time if they were under pressure?
Body shape and movement - Do you have multiple passing options based on your first touch? Open Body shape?
Decision Making - When to play quickly & when to slow the play down.
