7+GK v 5 (433 vs 532)

Tactical activity focusing on building out of the back using a 4-3-3 formation.

Description:
The Red team aims to move the ball forward to score in one of the small goals while the blue players attempts to win the ball back & score in the big Goal.

Set-up:
The playing area will be the full half of the field with three small goals at the halfway line as shown above. Divide players into two teams of 8.

Red players set up in a 1-4-3 formation and play out from the back starting with the GK while the blue team set up in a 3-2 formation. If the ball goes out of bounds, play re-starts with the GK.

More Challenging:
Reduce number of small goals for Red team to score in.
Add 2 wing backs for the blue team - 7+GK v 7

Less Challenging:
Create endzone for Red team to score instead of small goals

Coaching Points:
Decision making - How do you decide when to pass and dribble? When is the best time to pass to your teammate? Can you recognize the right opportunity to play forward and to play sidewards & backwards? What influences this decision?
Positioning - What position can you pick up on the field to make it difficult for the opposition?
Support - Are you in a good position to support your teammate?
Passing - Do we want to move the ball slowly or quickly? and why?
Overloads - How can we create an overload to move the ball forward? (Switching play? quick passing?)
Reaction - How do we react when we lose the ball? What direction is your first movement when we lose the ball?
